Get Involved
1. Who gets involved with Worship Ministries at MGEFC?
The people who are involved with Band, Vocal Ensembles & A/V Technologies attend MGEFC on a regular basis. They feel gifted and want to use their talents to serve the people who attend our church. Most importantly, they have a servant’s heart and are ready and willing to serve where needed as God has gifted them.
2. Do I need to be a member of MGEFC to join?
You do not have to be a member in order to join. However, by joining, it is our hope that you will decide to make the commitment to go through Membership Class this season, and officially join the MGEFC family.
3. Will I be asked to serve every week?
No. We try to be very conscious of your schedule. For Sunday Morning Worship Team members (vocalists, band members, A/V techs), you are required to attend weekly rehearsals only if you are serving that Sunday. Likewise, you are expected to be a regular attender at the Sunday service even if you are not serving.
4. When are rehearsals and how long do they last?
Your rehearsal schedule depends on which service you serve at. If you serve at our Current services (8:15 & 9:30am), rehearsal is on Sunday morning at 6:30am for the Sunday you serve at. If you serve at our Remix service (11:00am), rehearsal is usually on Thursdays at 6:30pm for the week you serve. We usually put together 3-4 songs each week. You should know the music completely when you arrive for rehearsal.
Vocal Ministry Placement
There are several areas of ministry that we are always looking to connect your God given gifts and talents with ministry responsibility. Here are just a few:
1. Sunday Morning Worship Teams
2. Jr. and Sr. High Worship Teams
3. Worship Leaders for other ministry events (Women's, Men's, Childrens, etc.)
Register
1. Fill out the Worship Ministries Registration Form.
2. After submitting the registration form, you will receive an invitation to Planning Center Online and an invitation to set up a one-on-one assessment. (If you are not contacted within one week, please contact Pastor Phillip Santillan / phils@mgefc.org.)
After setting up your one-on-one assessment, you will be able to download all charts and accompanying MP3s to help you prepare. You will be asked to prepare, by memory, one of these songs for your assessment (no cheat sheets, please).
3. You will then be contacted by Pastor Phil to set up a time for your vocal assessment. Vocalists do not attend the band assessment for placement day on August 14.
4. In addition to having a worship song prepared to sing, please know that you will be asked to demonstrate your ability to sing harmony by ear to a familiar worship chorus that will be chosen at the time of your assessment.
Band Ministry Placement
Assessment for Placement (AFP)
1. Prior to attending the AFP, please fill out the Worship Ministries Registration Form.
2. After submitting the registration form, you will receive an invitation to Planning Center Online and an invitation to Assessment for Placement on August 14.
After receiving the invite to AFP, you will be able to download all charts and accompanying MP3s to help you prepare.
You will be asked to prepare, by memory, these songs (no cheat sheets, please).
3. Come to AFP on August 14.
Top questions people have about being a part of the band
1. AFP is for connecting you with involvement in the worship ministry at MGEFC from September 2012 – June 2013.
2. Bring your instrument to the audition, unless you are auditioning for keys or drums (bring your sticks and additional percussion tools). We will provide a piano, keyboard, drum kit, bass amp and sound amplification at the AFP.
3. As for the AFP don’t stress out! It’ll be a great time to get to know each other and have some fun playing together.
A/V Technologies Ministry Placement
There are several areas of ministry that we are always looking to connect your God given gifts and talents with ministry responsibility. Here are just a few:
1. Sound
2. Visual Presentation (sermon PowerPoint, worship lyrics, etc.)
3. Sermon Podcast Production
4. Video Production
5. Lighting
6. Production Grips/Stage Hands (set up, tear down)
Register
1. Fill out the Worship Ministries Registration Form.
2. After submitting the registration form, you will receive an invitation to Planning Center Online and to set up an apprenticeship schedule. (If you are not contacted within one week, please contact Pastor Phillip Santillan / phils@mgefc.org.)
